Spain back on top of Women’s World Ranking

La Roja reclaim No1 spot from USA after run to the final of UEFA Women’s EURO 2025.

• World champions leapfrog USA to reclaim No1 spot
• England fourth after EURO triumph
• Bangladesh are biggest risers, moving up 24 places

Spain have reclaimed top spot in the FIFA Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking, moving ahead of previous leaders USA after finishing runners-up at the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025.

La Roja won five consecutive matches on their way to the final, where they were edged out in a penalty shoot-out by England. The Lionesses – who were beaten by Spain in the FIFA Women’s World Cup™ final two years ago – have risen one position to fourth on the Ranking.

France and Sweden make moves

France were the biggest risers inside the top ten, jumping four places to sixth. They won all three of their Women’s EURO group-stage matches, including an impressive victory over eventual champions England, before falling to Germany on penalties in the quarter-finals. Sweden, meanwhile, are up three spots to third. They were also beaten in a last-eight shoot-out, with England prevailing on their way to title glory.

Brazil seventh after memorable Copa success

Brazil won their ninth Copa America Femenina crown last week, with the legendary Marta starring in an incredible final win over Colombia. A Seleção triumphed in a penalty shoot-out after 4-4 draw in Quito. Despite their continental triumph, Brazil have slipped three positions to seventh in the Ranking, with a pre-tournament defeat to France contributing to their drop.

Bangladesh and Solomon Islands soar

The biggest risers in August’s edition of the Ranking are Bangladesh. They have climbed 24 places to 104th after impressive victories over Myanmar, Bahrain and Turkmenistan in qualification for the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup. Those results booked their spot at the tournament finals for the first time. Among the other notable movers are the Solomon Islands, who won the OFC Women’s Nations Cup and have gone up 13 spots to 73rd.
